THE FASHION TAG

I think it is safe to say that I am obsessed with makeup but I also love fashion and I am finding that I am always changing my style. I do follow trends but I will still wear a piece of clothing even if it has gone out of style. I have also found that since starting this blog my style has changed completely and I used to always wear girly items that were pink and lacy, whereas now I am completely the opposite and loving the 1970s style that has been in recently. I wanted to write about my style but rather than just writing a long piece I wanted to have it more like a TAG. I found this TAG ages ago and I cannot remember where it was from unfortunately but I thought it would be perfect for what I wanted.

1. How would you describe your style?

My style has changed recently. It used to be very girly and would be all lace and pink and recently I sorted through my wardrobe and actually got rid of quite a lot of clothes in that style to give to charity shops. Now my style is more of a Coachella style and I have also been loving the 1970's style with the floppy hats and the rusty tan colour. I have purchased so much recently in that tan/rust colour as I think it really compliments my skin. I have also been loving wearing a lot of denim. I recently bought a denim dungaree dress which actually reminded me of a dress that I had when I was a little girl. I just love denim at the moment and think it is definitely one of the biggest trends for Spring 2016. I try to wear clothes that are comfortable but also look good at the same time and I love pairing just a simple plain short sleeve top tucked into high-waisted jeans with tan faux suede high heel boots.

2. What is your favourite designer's collection?

When I was studying fashion at high school I had to look at designer's collections all the time and I had to make haute couture garments inspired by my favourite designers. However, now I have found that I don't really have any particular collection that I especially love, especially designer collections. Also, I am not the kind of person who needs my whole wardrobe to be full of designer items and I don't mind having pieces from Primark. Although at the moment I am loving the Spring/Summer 2016 collection from Topshop and River Island, although they are still high street stores. I find with these two stores that while some pieces can be fairly expensive they do also have pieces that are really not that expensive. I do have a couple of designer pieces but I would say that most of my wardrobe is from high street stores and most will probably be from Primark.

3. What are your wardrobe staples?

My last blog post was actually on my wardrobe essentials where I went through 12 of my staple pieces that I must always have in my wardrobe. I think for me the three most important staples in my wardrobe are a white shirt, a little black dress and a pair of jeans that fit me really well. I have found that jeans are one of the hardest pieces of clothing to find in terms of fitting me. Jeans are also probably the only item that I will spend a bit more money on as jeans don't really seem to fit me that well and I have found that they stretch after I have worn them a couple of times. White shirts are always handy and look amazing tucked into a pair of high-waisted skinny jeans and I love the fact that you can dress a shirt down or you can dress it up and make it look really smart. Also a little black dress is an essential in anyone's wardrobe and is always handy to have a couple in different styles as you never know when you will need one.

4. What are the most expensive items in your closet?

I have two fairly expensive items in my wardrobe or in my collection anyway. One is a handbag and then one is a coat. I have a handbag from Kate Spade which I got with the money from my Birthday last year and this is the only handbag I have used for the last year. I got this handbag in Bicester for roughly £150 although it was meant to be £250. I also have a coat from Karen Millen that I have had for almost three years and it has been the only coat that I wear in the Winter. Karen Millen is one of my favourite brands and in the past I have only ever really worn their dresses and not looked at their coats. But I was at an Outlet centre and I knew I needed a new Winter coat and had to choose between a Karen Millen black coat and a pink coat from Ted Baker. I am so glad I got the Karen Millen coat as even though it was still £130 down from £270, I have worn it so much and the quality is incredible. I would definitely suggest saving for a more expensive Winter coat as it is definitely worth the money. However, everything else in my wardrobe is pretty much from high street stores with the odd exception of a couple of dresses from Coast and DKNY.

5. What is the item you want the most?

I have always wanted a Mulberry handbag ever since I saw Andy Murray's wife with the Willow Tote at Wimbledon one year. I have recently started saving for it but it will take me a while as it is very expensive but I will know that I have worked for it and it would be something that I will definitely treasure. However, I have also asked for a rose gold Michael Kors watch for my 21st birthday and joint graduation present which is a lot cheaper than a Mulberry handbag and is something that I have also wanted for the last three years.

6. Who are your favourite designers?

I know this is probably meant to be designers like Chanel, Dior, Alexander McQueen etc, but I thought it would be more interesting to choose my favourite high street stores rather than designers. At the moment I am loving Jack Wills, Topshop, Primark and River Island and these are the stores that I have been going in the most recently.

7. How much do you spend on clothes?

Every now and again I will have a complete shopping spree where I will spend quite a bit on clothes. This is usually twice a year where I sort out my wardrobe and put stuff in bags for Charity shops or to sell online. I do save my money for a few months before these shopping sprees so I can spend a bit more but then most of the year I will only buy something if I desperately need it.

8. What are your favourite shops?

I have already really answered this, but my favourite shops are Jack Wills, Topshop, H&M, Coast, Karen Millen, River Island, Primark, and my favourite place to shop online is ASOS because it just has so many brands and is such a good website to find exactly what you need.

9. What is your favourite fragrance?

I have two fragrances that I am absolutely loving at the moment. They are both fairly expensive but the first one is by Chloe and I believe it is just the original perfume from that brand. And then a recent favourite perfume of mine is by Marc Jacobs and is called Decadence. They are both fairly strong fragrances but they are so amazing and I just wish they weren't as expensive.

10. What's your favourite way to do your hair?

My hair always used to be really curly, however this is not really the case anymore (after years of straightening it at a very high heat). Now it is fairly straight, so usually I will either leave it as it is or sometimes I will curl it. I also dye my hair around three times a year and I have a blog post on my tips for colouring your hair. I am also very lucky to have very long hair so I can actually do quite a bit with it like putting it up and putting it into buns and braids etc.

11. What is your go-to outfit when your have no idea what to wear?

My go-to outfit has got to be a simple plain t-shirt, with jeans and my tan faux suede high heel boots. I literally wear this outfit more than anything else and it is so comfortable but I can also wear it out if I just put my faux suede jacket on over the top.

12. What is your most prized possession in your wardrobe?

The most prized possession is actually a piece of jewellery that I was given on my 18th birthday from my parents. It was a necklace that my Dad gave my Mum years ago and then they passed it down to me which just made it even more special. It is a platinum heart which has a small diamond in the centre and is on a platinum thin chain. I absolutely love this and I wear it quite a bit, except for when I'm at University in  case I lose it. But it is definitely a piece that I will treasure for the rest of my life and hopefully if I have a daughter I will be able to pass it down to her as well.

13. Who are your style icons?

I was trying to think about who my style icons and I was really struggling to think of anyone in particular. I mainly look at the fashion magazines like Vogue and will then see what celebrities are wearing and what is on trend but I can't really think of anyone in particular who I would consider is my style icon.

I would love to hear what your fashion style is like and whether you take any notice of trends in the comments below!
