COOKIES IN A JAR

I love baking and this will probably be the last baking gift for a while, although I will nearer to Christmas write posts on how to make other items either on Wednesdays or Sundays. But I wanted to end it with one of my favourite gifts to give at Christmas and I know there are so many recipes on this and I believe there are other bloggers who have also come up with this idea but I want to show you how to make cookies in a jar. These are so cheap to make and you can make loads for people at work or for friends or to just put in someone's stocking. I always have to include the mixture to make my triple chocolate chip cookies, which have dark, milk and white chocolate chips in them and they are just incredible.

Makes: 1 jar (roughly 12 cookies) | Prep Time: 10-15 minutes | Cook Time: 12 minutes
You will need ...

1 large jar

175g Plain Flour

175g Caster Sugar

100g Cocoa Powder
Pinch of Salt

1tsp Baking Powder

75g Dark Chocolate Chips

75g Milk Chocolate Chips

75g White Chocolate Chips

Method ...
First of all you need to make sure that your jar is completely clean and you may also want to sterilise them by washing in warm soapy water and drying on a baking sheet and then place in the oven on a low heat.

Measure out all your ingredients first before placing in the jar.

Pour you're plain flour into the jar first and then add the baking powder and salt. Then add the cocoa powder, followed by the caster sugar. You will then want to add the dark chocolate chips, followed by the milk chocolate chip and then finally the white chocolate chips (if you don't want to use chocolate chips then you can just buy a bar of chocolate and then cut it into fairly small chunks). Make sure that you press down each layer firmly before adding the next layer.

Now you will want to write a gift tag, telling them how to make the cookies and make sure you write the quantities needed for the butter and eggs. On a gift tag, write the following:

"Ingredients Needed: 150g Unsalted Butter | 1tsp Vanilla Extract | 1 medium egg (beaten)

Method: Preheat the oven to 180C and line 2 baking trays with parchment paper. Melt the butter and stir in the egg and vanilla extract. Then place the whole contents of the jar into the bowl and mix thoroughly. Then shape into balls (roughly a teaspoon) and place on the baking sheets. Place in the oven and bake for approximately 12 minutes. Place on a wire rack and enjoy!!"

Tie your gift tag onto a piece of ribbon or string. If you want to make your gift even better then you could buy a wooden spoon or spatula and place on top of the jar and then tie a piece of ribbon round the whole jar securing the spoon on top and tie in a bow. Then add your gift tag and you have a present that everyone will love and will look amazing under the Christmas Tree.
