If you were to ask me what my favourite makeup item is; I would say lip products (whether it is a lipstick, lip liner, lip gloss or a liquid lipstick, I am obsessed with lip products!) One lip product that I love the most is liquid lipsticks. Obviously Too Faced do liquid lipsticks and I have a couple from them but I am always looking for items that you can buy in the drugstore because Too Faced can be expensive, especially if you want more than one shade. So when I saw these Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipsticks, I knew that I had to buy a few of them to test them out. I only have four out of the available eight shades, but I chose shades that I knew I would wear the most.
The shades I have are 'Nude Thrill' (a gorgeous nude shade), 'Rebel Red,' (a bright Marilyn Monroe shade of red), 'Nude Flush' (a really pretty nude which is slightly more pink) and 'Possessed Plum' (a deep plum/purple shade). All of the shades in the range seem to be really wearable colours that would suit everyone's skin tones and you can obviously choose the lipsticks that would bets suit your skin tone if you wanted to. I love nude lip products, and even though I have so many lipsticks in this colour, I had to buy a couple more. 'Nude Thrill' is a really pretty everyday nude, whereas 'Nude Flush' is more pink. The red shade would be perfect for any skin tone and would look amazing with a natural smokey eye for a night out. I decided to buy the purple shade because I thought it would be perfect for Autumn/Winter, which is when I will wear the deeper red and purple shades. Overall the colour selection of these lipsticks are amazing and could be worn day or night.

The lipsticks apply really nicely onto the lips, however I have found that some don't dry all the way and I have to be careful that it doesn't look too uneven. It's a fairly thick formula therefore I have to keep going over my lips to make sure there is no excess product that won't dry completely. It also doesn't dry completely matte (unless you put a thin layer on!) but it is not glossy either, which I quite like; because there are some liquid lipsticks that dry completely matte and then make my lips feels really dry. Also, I have found that they do take a bit to dry completely down, depending on how many layers you have applied, but it can take between five and ten minutes some times when I have applied thick layers of the lipstick. They can also look slightly streaky, but what I do is apply a layer and let it dry and then apply another layer and then it looks incredible. Without a primer, there lipsticks last a long time (roughly six hours) and I have found that when it has completely dried, the colour does not transfer when I eat or drink. They do not bleed, so I don't have to wear a lip liner with them and I think for an inexpensive liquid lipsticks these are really good and I will definitely be buying the rest of the collection in the future. I also love the fact that the formula is fairly creamy, so it doesn't feel like the lipstick is drying out my lips and when I wear them it does not feel like I am wearing lipstick at all. My only criticism is the scent. I am not a fan of heavily scented products, especially when they are a lipstick or a lip gloss. This is a fairly sweet scent but then sometimes it smells slightly floral, so I am not a fan but I can put up with it. However, if you don't like scented lipsticks then this is probably not the best item for you to buy. Overall, I really like these products, and if you are looking for an inexpensive liquid lipstick then these are a good choice.
This collection is available for £6.99 each (here)
