Last week I wrote a post on how I pack my cosmetics bag when I am travelling, however I realised that I have never shown you the makeup that I will take when I am travelling. As you are reading this I am currently in London for a few days, so I didn't bring as much makeup and I brought mainly the essentials. Usually when I go abroad I will take maybe another eyeshadow palette and a couple more lip products but that would be it. I know when I'm travelling I can usually buy more makeup if I need to, so I don't see the point in taking too much and filling my suitcase with makeup when it is not necessary.
For my trip to London I really have not brought much with me and I have tried to bring products that don't take up much space, like I have not brought with me massive eyeshadow palettes that hold 15 eyeshadows. I have also brought with me a range of drugstore and high-end products with me as well. I will only bring one makeup bag with me when travelling, and there will be some people who will think that I still take too much makeup with me; but for me this is pretty reserved. I am going to tell you about each product and why I usually have them in my makeup bag when I travel.
L'Oréal Nude Magique Cushion Foundation - When I am travelling I always want to take a foundation that is fairly compact and not going to take up loads of room. Recently I have been loving this new cushion foundation from L'Oréal. This is so handy as when I am travelling I can reapply with the sponge applicator provided and it is really easy to blend. It also provides a pretty good coverage and gives me a radiant look. This gives a more dewy finish to my skin, so would probably not be great for people who suffer from oily skin anyway, however it is perfect for anyone who has normal to dry skin like me.
YSL Touche Éclat - I remember when YSL brought out a limited edition packaging for their Touche Éclat and I was so excited that I went and bought two; one for me and one for my Mum. I have the slogan collector's edition with the slogan "I am not a morning person" (which is very fitting for me!) However, I love this product and even though it is expensive at £25 it is something that I will always keep repurchasing in the future. I love taking this when I am travelling because not only does it conceal any dark circles under my eyes but it also acts as a highlighter to add instant radiance to your face. Therefore, sometimes I will not even wear highlighter when I am wearing this. Also, it only comes in one shade which is a subtle rose shade and it is perfect for concealing dark circles and any breakouts that I have.
Soap & Glory Solar Powder Bronzer - This bronzer is a really pretty shade for my skin tone and I love the fact that there are two different shades. I will sometimes just use one shade to contour, or sometimes I will use a large brush and sweep across the two shades to give my skin a natural, sun-kissed look. This is £11 and this bronzer lasts me so long, and usually when I am abroad this will be the only product I apply to my face as I do like to look slightly more tanned, and this helps achieve that look. Usually abroad I won't worry about foundation, blush and highlighter, but I will always use bronzer.
Benefit Rockateur Blush - This has recently become one of my favourite blushes of all time and I wear it pretty much everyday; therefore it is going to be in my travel makeup bag. I love most of the products from Benefit, and this blush is no exception. It is a really pretty rose shade and it doesn't look too harsh when I apply it. Instead it just gives me some colour to my cheeks without it being too overpowering. This is expensive at £23.50 but it is definitely worth it in my eyes as I use this more than Nars blushes.
Makeup Revolution Radiance Highlighter Palette - Usually I will only take one highlighter with me when I travel, however I recently got this trio highlighter palette from Makeup Revolution and for me it is easier to take a palette so I have a choice. I have never even thought about buying anything from this brand but I am really impressed with the formulation of the highlighters and the shades are very pretty. Plus it is very similar to my Hourglass palette, and I would prefer to take this cheaper alternative than my Hourglass palette, in case I leave it somewhere as it does cost a lot of money.
Soap & Glory Archery Brow Tint and Pencil - I love this brow pencil from Soap & Glory, and I love the fact that it is a 2-in-1 product which is perfect for travelling. On one end there is a felt tip to help fill in the brows and on the other end there is a wax crayon which helps to fill out brows and set them in place. It is so easy to apply and makes my brows look really natural rather than being too overpowering. This is an absolute must-have when I am travelling anywhere.
Collection Eyes Uncovered Palette in Nude - Whenever I go away for a couple of days I will usually only take a small palette that I can use for a more natural daytime look and the turn it into a night time look as well. This palette from Collection is really good for travelling and is only £3.99. This is such an amazing natural nude palette. I really love the darker brown shades which are perfect for creating a dramatic smokey eye, whereas the light brown shades are perfect for the crease and creating a soft and subtle natural daytime look. Also this only has 6 eyeshadows in the palette so it isn't as large as some of the palettes from Urban Decay.
L'Oréal Super Liner Eyeliner Ultra Precision - Usually, I don't wear eyeliner, however I will always take a liquid eyeliner with me when I travel, especially if I know I will be going out at night. I find that this eyeliner is so easy to apply and glides on perfectly. You do not have to be an expert to line your eyes perfectly. The wand is flexible which makes it easy to create a wing, plus the pigmentation is very intense and you don't have to keep applying more product to get the perfect wing.
Benefit They're Real Mascara - I will never take more than one mascara with me when I am travelling as I know that usually I can buy another one if I need to when I am away. However, the mascara I will always take with me when travelling is my They're Real mascara from Benefit. This make my lashes look amazing and does not clump them together, but instead separates them and adds volume to the lashes. I don't wear false lashes as I find they look too big on me. Therefore, this mascara is perfect for me because it does give me the look of false lashes without having to worry about applying them.
Tanya Burr Lip Gloss in Lunch Date - I love wearing this lip gloss from Tanya Burr. It is a gorgeous nude/pink shade, and it is not too pale that it will wash you out but then it will also look amazing with a tan. The formula of these lip glosses are great, and they are not too sticky, as well as having a really nice watermelon scent to it. When I am wearing this lip gloss it feels really moisturising and comfortable as if I am wearing nothing on my lips. This is perfect for travelling as it will go with any makeup look that you want to achieve.
Rimmel Exaggerate Lip Liner in Eastend Snob - This is one of my favourite lip liners that I own and it only costs £3.99. The shade Eastend Snob is a really pretty pink/mauve and looks amazing on the lips. I don't often line my lips but if I cannot be bothered to wear lipstick I will just fill in my lips with this liner and the shade is so pretty. It can sometimes feel quite drying on the lips but after a while you get use to the feeling. It looks like you are wearing a matter liquid lipstick when you wear this all over your lips. This is a must have in anyone's makeup collection and this is perfect for travelling as I will wear this on its own usually.
Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick in Nude Flush - I really love taking a liquid lipstick with me when I am travelling, because I know that I won't have to reapply it that often, which is perfect for when I am on the train or flying. This lipstick dries fairly matte and the pink shade is really pretty on the lips. It also makes my teeth look whiter because there seems to be blue undertones in the colour. The formula is really nice and when it has dried it doesn't feel like I am wearing lipstick at all. The only thing I am not keen on is the scent of the liquid lipstick as it does smell of a floral perfume, but apart from that I really love this lipstick and shade.
