Welcome to Day 19 of Blogmas!
I absolutely love Christmas, and something that I have not done in a while is a TAG and I thought it is the perfect time to do the Christmas TAG. You can find the questions on so many blogs but I did add three more questions as it seemed weird only answering seventeen questions. Some of these answers I will have given before but Christmas is my favourite time of the year!! I have also changed one of the questions as it was about Santa and there could be younger children reading this blog (or they may read it if they have an older sibling) and I didn't want anyone coming away from this blog upset. So I have changed some of the wording of each question just so it flows better! While reading my answers why don't you think about how you would answer these questions and let me know your answers!
1. What is your favourite Christmas movie?
I think I have mentioned this film enough, but for me it has to be Elf. This is one of my favourite Christmas movies of all time and it is such a funny film that the whole family can enjoy. I do also love The Grinch, The Santa Clause, Die Hard (which is technically not a Christmas film but it is set during Christmas), Love Actually and The Holiday!!
2. Have you ever experienced a White Christmas?
I live in the UK, so I have been lucky enough to experience a white Christmas! I love it when it snows as it usually meant a snow day at school and instead we could spend the day having snowball fights and making snowmen. I have only experienced snow on Christmas Day a couple of times as I live near the coast where we don't get too much snow!
3. Where do you usually spend the holidays?
I usually spend the holidays at home with my family. I have travelled before over the Christmas holidays but it is so much nicer to spend time with family having a great day at home.
4. What is your favourite Christmas song?
I have two favourite Christmas songs; one is the Band Aid's Do they Know it's Christmas (which you can listen to here) and the other is Mariah Carey's All I want for Christmas is you (which you can listen to here).
5. Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
I do not open any presents on Christmas Eve, although when I am older and have a family I probably would have a present for everyone to open on Christmas Eve which would be pyjamas that they could wear on Christmas morning. When I was younger I was able to open one present on Christmas Eve and it was usually some sweets that I could have while watching a Christmas movie. But now I open all of my presents on the morning of Christmas Day.
6. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer?
Rudolph, Blitzen, Prancer, Dancer, Comet, Cupid, Vixen, Donner and Dasher (I promise I did not cheat, although it took me a while to remember Donner).
7. What holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?
Most of our holiday traditions are in the build-up to Christmas, like watching Elf a few days before Christmas, baking mince pies and the Christmas cake, putting up the real tree. We always play games after our Christmas dinner on Christmas Day; but this will be the first year without my Dad which makes this Christmas a lot more difficult, as he usually created the family traditions.
8. Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
I have two Christmas trees and one is real and one is fake. We have our fake tree in the living room which is covered in gold and red baubles and decorations and then our real tree is in the conservatory and that is covered in purple, silver and white decorations. I also don't put tinsel on my trees because I can never make the tinsel look good and whenever I try it looks like I have thrown tinsel onto the tree!!
9. What is your all-time favourite holiday food/sweet treat?
Probably anything with cookie at the end of it. I am usually good all year round with not eating sweets and cookies, but at Christmas I usually treat myself and I allow myself a couple of cookies. I actually have a chocolate reindeer cookie recipe going up on my blog which is so good and you definitely need to try them!
10. Do you prefer giving gifts to receiving gifts? (BE HONEST)
I think when I was younger I loved receiving gifts, but as I have gotten older it has definitely changed and I prefer to give gifts. I love to treat my family and friends to gifts that I know they want but would never buy themselves. I get more pleasure out of seeing my family happy and excited to receive their presents than actually receiving them myself. I also try to give more to charity at Christmas, whether it is sponsoring someone or if I see someone who is busking or collecting for charity then I will always try to donate something if I have change on me.
11. What is the best Christmas gift you have ever received?
I have been very lucky over the years and have received some amazing presents, but my favourite one was a dollhouse that my Dad had bought and made for me. I still have it and it is a decorative piece on the side table in the spare bedroom. It is so beautiful and I have had it for over ten years.
12. Where would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
I have been very lucky to have spent the holiday season in another country and although I loved it, I love spending the Christmas holidays at home with family. However, if I had to choose somewhere then it would have to be New York. Every January I think about going to New York and treating my Mum and I never get around to booking it. I am 100% going to book a holiday to New York next December and treat my Mum to a great holiday there.
13. Do you like to wrap presents?
I love wrapping presents and I can spend hours wrapping them. I put a lot of time into wrapping my presents and I try to make them look as beautiful as I can. This year I have gone over the top and I will have a post up in a couple of days on some of my gift-wrapping ideas. I have used copper spray paint, paper doilies and I have even used Christmas tree decorations to adorn my presents this year.
14. What is your most memorable Holiday moment?
For me it is when my whole family came down to our home from Scotland and we spend a couple of weeks together. It was so nice having all the family together for Christmas, and I remember my Mum had made us all stockings and it was just a really fun day. We watched Christmas movies, played games and just had a great day.
15. Have you ever spent Christmas abroad?
I have spent Christmas abroad, only once, and I was probably three or four years old. It was only my parents and I, and we went and spent a few weeks in Florida. I don't really remember much of that trip, as I was so young, but I remember all the holiday decorations and seeing some of the characters. It was a great holiday and we have so many photos of that holiday but I do love to spend Christmas with my family at home in the UK.
16. Do you make New Years Resolutions and do you stick to them?
I do make New Years Resolutions and I usually stick to them for about a month and then completely forget about them. However, for 2017 I am going to be making more New Years Resolutions and I am making a promise to actually stick to them for the whole year rather than just for the month of January!
17. What makes the holidays special to you?
I think it is the fact that I get to see family that I have not seen all year! My family live all over the UK and some even live abroad so this is really the one time of year that I get to see them or we are in contact more during the holiday period. I just love the festive season, whether it is Christmas shopping, wrapping presents, baking the Christmas cake and other yummy treats and watching Christmas films. This is my favourite time of the year and I am just obsessed with Christmas.
18. How do you spend your Christmas Day?
I usually wake up on Christmas Day quite early (usually around 7am) and we will then all gather in the living room, in our pyjamas, and open all of our presents. This usually takes a couple of hours and then we will have breakfast. I then usually get ready and do my makeup and then I will start helping my Mum with the Christmas dinner. We will then have dinner and then play Christmas games. Usually we then watch Christmas films and just have a laugh. I just love Christmas Day and I know when I host Christmas in the future it will be way over the top.
19. What is your favourite Christmas TV Special episode?
It has to be the Gavin & Stacey Christmas episode. I absolutely love to watch Gavin & Stacey and the Christmas episode is one of my favourites. I have watched this episode over twenty times and I probably know all the words off by heart but I still watch it multiple times over the Christmas period. I also love the Miranda Christmas specials and also the Christmas specials from The Big Bang Theory (I have linked where you can buy these episodes over on my Top 5 Christmas Movies & TV Shows).
20. What is your favourite part about the build-up to Christmas?
I prefer the build-up to Christmas to the actual day itself. I love the fact that I see my friends and family more and from the end of November I am in the festive spirit. I put up the decorations on the 1st of December and I usually try and have all of my presents sorted by the middle of December (although I have only just finished my Christmas shopping a couple of days ago, which is unusual for me)! My favourite part about the build-up to Christmas has got to be seeing my family but I love every part of Christmas; whether it is wrapping presents, baking and watching Christmas films!
