THE PERFECT GIFT GUIDE FOR THE GIRL WHO HAS EVERYTHING ...

MINCE PIES AND BRANDY BUTTER

HOW TO MAKE THE BEST MINCE PIES THAT WILL IMPRESS EVERYONE THIS CHRISTMAS!

It's the most wonderful time of the year! I have never made it a secret that Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year - and one of the reasons why I love this holiday so much is the build up to the big day. I love the buying gifts, wrapping gifts, spending time with friends and family as well as all the baking. And I could not go throughout the month of December without making my mince pies and brandy butter - these go down so well at family get togethers and they don't last long in my household. I write a recipe on my mince pies a couple of years ago, but this year I decided to go all out on my normal recipe and add a twist by making my own mincemeat. I have always used a jar of mincemeat but I really wanted to try making it for myself and I was so surprised to see how easy it is to make. This is the one piece of baking that I always have to do a week before Christmas and I end up making over sixty mince pies as I know that they will not last long in my house, especially with a spoonful of brandy butter!

This recipe is so easy to make, and of course you can buy ready-made pastry and mincemeat, but making your own is so easy and is perfect to keep the kids entertained over the Christmas holidays. Plus mince pies will always be a hit with every family member ...

A CHRISTMAS LUSH HAUL

A FAIRLY SMALL CHRISTMAS LUSH HAUL!

Christmas, is no doubt, my favourite time of the year! As soon as Halloween is over I immediately start thinking about what new decorations I can buy and I always make time to go to Lush (as no bathroom is complete without a few of their holiday bath bombs)! I usually go wild in Lush and buy too many bath bombs so this year I decided to leave my Lush shopping trip until the end of November and just buy a few of my absolute favourite bath products. I went into my local Lush store a few days ago and I managed to restrain myself from buying the whole store and only buy five of my all time favourite bath products from their holiday collection. All of these bath products would make great stocking fillers, or if you know someone who is obsessed with Lush then why not create a hamper of their favourite Lush bath products or check out the Lush gift sets!

I become a five year old again when I enter a Lush store and I always go for the prettiest bath bombs that have loads of glitter and bright colours in them - but the products I purchased are truly my favourite products from Lush and I feel like none of them are in the same scent category (so there will probably be a bath bomb in this post that is perfect for everyone). I usually love the sweet and citrus bath products but at Christmas I do like to buy one product from Lush that is more Christmassy with some winter spice in the scent.

Now it is December, I am so excited to share with you all of the items I purchased in Lush. I know that these are all in stock online and am pretty sure that they will still have these products in most stores. I am sure I will also be making an online order very soon because it would not be me if I did not just fill my whole bathroom with Lush products during the festive season. Also I am so tempted to buy the Giant Golden Wonder bath bomb as that is my all-time favourite Christmas bath bomb from Lush Cosmetics.

You can purchase all of the bath products, that I have mentioned below from Lush Cosmetics both in store and online! Now, let me show you what I bought on my most recent shopping trip to Lush ...

FIVE LIPSTICKS YOU NEED FOR AUTUMN/WINTER

THE FIVE LIPSTICKS YOU NEED IN YOUR MAKEUP COLLECTION THIS AUTUMN/WINTER!

I have made it no secret that when it comes to makeup, I am a bit obsessed and I have way too many lipsticks in my collection. I try to wear different lipsticks each day but I am someone who will always have a small group of favourite products that I will use time and time again. Lipsticks are the one thing that I will change every season - I have my pinks and peaches for spring/summer, my nude shades for all year round and when it comes to the autumn/winter months I have my red and plum shades. So of course this post has a mixture of red and nude lipstick shades that are perfect for the autumn/winter months.

Now we are in the middle of autumn, and getting closer to Christmas, I thought it was time to show you my top five favourite lipsticks that I have been using all the time in the last couple of months (and will carry on wearing them until we get to spring)! It is the crisper and colder months that make me want to bundle up in a teddy bear coat, throw on a thick, woolly scarf and add a red lip to my makeup routine. I am totally obsessed with red lips at the moment and as we near the Christmas season that obsession is only going to grow more.

When I look at these five lipsticks I just feel like they are perfect for the autumn and winter months and they are all my favourite lipsticks at the moment. I have a mixture of nude and red lipsticks so there really is something for everyone - plus I have included a few of my current drugstore favourites that I have been loving so much over the last month or so. I did try to keep this all just lipsticks, but I always find that I end up wearing more liquid lipsticks as I usually want a more matte and long lasting finish during autumn and winter; so of course I had to include a liquid lipstick into the mix as well. I absolutely love these lipsticks and think they are needed in everyone's makeup collection for the next few months - plus there are some shades that will make the perfect red lip for Christmas Day!

If you are wanting to add some new lipsticks to your makeup collection this autumn and winter, then these are the perfect shades for you, plus they will make great gifts for any makeup lover this Christmas!

MY FAVOURITE SKINCARE PRODUCTS OF 2017

WHAT I HAVE BEEN USING ON MY SKIN IN 2017 AND MY MUST-HAVE PRODUCTS!

When it comes to my blog, I often stick to beauty and makeup - however I do not talk that often about skincare. The reason for that is I have only really started thinking about good quality skincare over the last year and I have wanted to make sure that I thoroughly test out the products before mentioning them to you. Over the last year, I have tried so many new skincare products from the drugstore and from more luxury brands; some have worked and are featured in this post and some I didn't like and won't even talk about on here. Now it is coming into the colder months, I am making sure that my skincare routine is on point as I do suffer from dryness and blemishes. So these products that I mention in this post are my absolute favourite skincare products and work well for dry skin, but some are even great for people with oily, sensitive and acne-prone skin types.

Skincare for me is the most important step to invest in; I have always said that it does not matter how much you spend on a makeup item or the quality of it, if your skin is not looking its best. There are some amazing drugstore items out there as well, which I have included in this post, but I do feel it is always better to invest in at least a couple of skincare items so that your skin looks great. All of these products I absolutely love and use either on a daily or weekly basis and I have tried to put them into categories to help you decide what area of skincare you want to really focus on. I am also going to be listing some products that I like but I don't use them regularly so that you have some more options as I know what I use regularly will not be great for everyone. I have some drugstore and some high-end products in every category and I will be doing little mini reviews of every product that I class as my must-have skincare products. I will also be leaving the links to all of the products that I mention as well.

I was really inspired to make this post after being contacted by the lovely team from a website called reviews.com - I am not being sponsored or paid to talk about this website, I was just asked to look at it and give my opinion on whether I thought you would like it as well. As soon as I looked at the website I knew I wanted to share it with you all because the team at reviews.com have put in so much effort into reviewing so many different products. They review products from beauty, fitness, homeware, insurance and so much more. I have been reading so many reviews of beauty products, including skincare and makeup and have absolutely loved it. Their reviews are so easy to understand and they put in the research so you don't have to - they will look at and review sometimes over 300 products to find you the best of the best from that particular category. They will also sum up what product is best for different skin types and they really explain the process for why they have chosen those products as the absolute best. For example, I have been reading their Best Eye Creams review today and am definitely buying one of the eye creams they recommend as they started off with a list of 318 eye creams and then spoke to experts in the field, as well as testing them out on themselves to find the best eye creams. Obviously I don't have the time to put so many eye creams to the test, so I would really recommend checking out their website as they have done all the hard work for you, and they have reviews on everything from foundation to vacuum cleaners. Also look at the other product reviews that they have, because there is something for everyone and it is the perfect time to see what products you might want to buy people for Christmas. You can find their website by clicking here or you can read their blog here.

Now let me show you what my favourite skincare products of 2017 have been so far ...

A U.F.O. SOLVED MY ACNE PROBLEMS

A U.F.O. CAME AND SOLVED MY ACNE PROBLEMS?

OK maybe not exactly ... but it is amazing at reducing blemishes and acne ...

Of course an U.F.O. didn't literally come and solve all my acne problems, but the Sunday Riley U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Facial Oil did help reduce any acne I was suffering from. As I have said before, in many posts, I suffer from dry skin in certain areas of my face (like my T-zone) and then the rest of my skin is fairly normal. However, most of us will suffer from acne and breakouts at some stages during the year, and because I test out a lot of skincare and makeup for this blog, my skin sometimes cannot copes and just breaks me out. I don't have acne or breakouts all the time but if I have tested a lot of different skincare products in one week, my skin has a meltdown and likes to break me out. I also suffer from pores that are sometimes difficult to conceal and hide.

Throughout the last few years I have tested out so many products that are meant to reduce the appearance of acne   and blackheads, and I have found some products work - but a lot do not do anything for my skin. That was until I decided to bite the bullet and order the Sunday Riley U.F.O. Ultra-Clarifying Facial Oil. This is really expensive but I have noticed such a difference with my skin and it really has helped to reduce the signs of acne, blackhead and blemishes. I have always wanted to try something from Sunday Riley, as I had seen so many people talk abut their products on YouTube and on blogs but I was just never able to afford such a pricey skincare product. However, I am now of the belief that it is so important to invest in your skincare routine and not worry about buying luxury makeup - you can make any makeup product work if your skin is looking its absolute best.

This is the only product from Sunday Riley that I have tried and I am so tempted to buy the LUNA sleeping oil from the brand but I haven't been able to justify it just yet. However, this U.F.O facial oil is literally out of this world!

This product is expensive at £34 for 15ml or £68 for 30ml and is available from Cult Beauty, Harvey Nichols and Nordstrom.

MORPHE X JACLYN HILL PALETTE - IS IT WORTH THE HYPE?

IS IT WORTH THE HYPE? AND FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF MORPHE

When it comes to beauty launches, I am not someone who is desperate to get my hands on a product the day it launches; but with the Morphe X Jaclyn Hill palette I did want to get it on the day it was released so I could review it for all of you. I know that this palette has been out in the States for a few months now, but the Jaclyn Hill palette was only launched on the BeautyBay website last week. At first I was never going to buy this palette as I didn't want to pay the customs through the Morphe website but when I saw BeautyBay was going to have it in stock I knew that I wanted to get my hands on it. As soon as this palette launched in the UK I went on to the website to buy the palette and it took me two and half hours of refreshing the page to finally get my order confirmation - I have never spent so much time trying to get my hands on a palette and I did almost give up at one point. This is literally a first impressions review of the palette as I have only had it for a couple of days now and I have used it for the first time today (just before I started writing this blog post).

I will admit, I have never been someone who has been interested in Morphe products - when I bought this palette, I had only owned one item from Morphe, which was an eyeshadow brush that I am not the biggest fan of. But, I have never owned or tried any of Morphe's makeup products and I have always been curious about trying their eyeshadow palettes. I have heard mixed reviews of their eyeshadow palettes but a lot of people seem to like them. I know their is some controversy over whether the products are made my Morphe and there is the whole drama over beauty YouTubers constantly mentioning their Morphe codes in their videos. However, do not worry as I have no affiliation with Morphe and I am going to give my honest opinion on the Morphe X Jaclyn Hill palette.

I use to watch Jaclyn Hill a lot when I was younger and I would always want to buy whatever she mentioned in her videos but nowadays I will sometimes watch her videos if I think it is something I will like or want to recreate myself. I was a massive fan of Champagne Pop (the highlighter Jaclyn Hill created in collaboration with Becca) so I was excited to see what her dream eyeshadow palette would look like. I didn't buy this palette because everyone else was buying it, I honestly bought it because I do watch Jaclyn's videos every now and again and the shades looked like something I would use on a daily basis. This eyeshadow palette is literally the colours I would put into my own eyeshadow palette (if I ever made one) as she has focused on the warm toned shadows that I love but had added in a pop of colour with the blues and greens.

This palette is more expensive than other Morphe palettes at £37 or $38. Unfortunately this palette is sold out on the BeautyBay website but I know that it will be coming back in stock some time this month. However, you can buy the Jaclyn Hill Palette on the Morphe Website (just remember if you are in the UK, you will have to pay taxes, shipping and customs, so it might be worthwhile waiting till BeautyBay restock it).

SEPTEMBER FAVOURITES 2017

WHAT I'VE BEEN LOVING THIS SEPTEMBER

It seems like forever since I did a favourites post on this blog; and it actually is, I haven't written a favourites post since last year. Recently, I have been trying loads of new products and have found some that are my absolute favourites for the month of September, plus I have been using a couple of older products that I have realised are amazing and that I need to use more. In the past I have tried to do beauty, fashion and a mixture of homeware in my favourites post, but from now I am just going to focus on beauty when it comes to favourites (and then I will do a separate post on other bits I have been loving in that month). It is no doubt that I am absolutely obsessed with makeup and I am always trying out new products to write about on this blog so I don't always use the same products every single day for a month, but I found that in September I wasn't trying that many new products so I was able to really use the products I own and bought throughout September. Therefore, I have some amazing favourites to share with you this month ...

How are we already in September? I cannot believe how fast 2017 is going and I feel like it will be Christmas in no time. I feel like throughout 2017, there have been some amazing launches in the beauty world. And I feel like the launch of Fenty Beauty this September has been one of the best launches of the year; so of course there are some Fenty Beauty products in there plus there are some products that I got when I was in America. I have mainly makeup in this favourites post as that is what I have been testing out more recently, but I do have a new skincare favourite that I have been absolutely loving. Also, for once I am actually posting my monthly favourites on the last day of the month, which I don't think I have ever achieved before (so I am super proud of myself for that)!

September has been a great month for me, I have found a new passion for this blog, and am truly excited to make this amazing for you all that read this and I am so happy to share with you all my September favourites. Also, I am 100% going to make this a series on here and will be doing monthly favourites at the end of every month from now on! (I promise)!

Without any more waffling on, here are my favourites for the month of September ...

HOW TO CUSTOMISE YOUR IKEA ALEX DRAWERS?

INTRODUCING YOU TO MY NEW IKEA ALEX DRAWERS!

The Ikea Alex - also know as the answer to every makeup obsessive's storage problems. This is a standard fixture in almost every beauty blogger's bedroom, as it is the perfect set of drawers to keep your makeup in. These drawers come in two sizes; the nine drawer or the five drawer. I decided to purchase the Alex nine drawer as I own way too much makeup and thought that the nine drawer would be better to store all my makeup in. My Alex drawers were delivered in May and they are the easiest thing to put together, but there is not denying that they look pretty boring. There is nothing wrong with keeping them white, but they do look quite clinical and plain. So I knew that I wanted to change my drawers to make them look more fun and not like they belonged in a doctor's office ...

I have seen so many tutorials on YouTube showing us how to customise our Ikea Alex drawers and I decided a few weeks ago that was what I was going to do. I don't mind the white drawers and I think that they look ok, but they never looked right in my beauty room as just plain white. My beauty room is also the spare room, so I have storage for my makeup, and then there is a bed and a wardrobe for guests to use when they stay. But the theme of this room is quite tropical and I have gone with a green and blue theme for the bedding and curtains. So I knew that I wanted to customise my Alex drawers so that they would fit in to my room. There are so many tutorials on YouTube and on other blogs that show you how to customise your Ikea Alex drawers, but I took inspiration from Fleur De Force, who created a really pretty striped look to her drawers. There are so many ways you can customise them; I have seen stripes, ombre, painting the whole drawers one colour and you could even paint spots and other shapes onto your Ikea Alex drawers.

So now let me introduce you to my new and improved Alex drawers, that I customised all by myself ...

The Ikea Alex Nine Drawers are available from Ikea for £95 and the Ikea Alex Five Drawers are £50.

FENTY BEAUTY - IS IT WORTH THE HYPE?

WHY RIHANNA IS SHOWING MAKEUP BRANDS HOW IT IS DONE!

I will admit that I am not the biggest Rihanna fan, I definitely listened to her music more when I was younger but nowadays there are other bands and artists that I listen to more. But I was excited to see that she was releasing a new makeup collection that would be exclusive to Sephora and Harvey Nichols. I usually won't buy makeup collections from celebrities because I find that it is often the case that the prices will be so high just because it has their name on it. For example, I have never purchased anything from Kylie Cosmetics or from Kim Kardashian West's KKW Beauty range because firstly the prices are quite high (without tax and shipping added on) and there has obviously been controversy over some of the products and customer service. However, I felt more reassured with Fenty Beauty as it was not going to be an online brand but would be exclusive to Sephora and Harvey Nichols online and in store. This has probably been the most hyped up brand of all of 2017 and everyone was going crazy over the fact that Rihanna was bringing out 40 foundation shades in her first collection; meaning there is a shade for everyone whether you have a fair or deep complexion (obviously some people might need to mix a couple of shades for the foundation to be a perfect match). Usually we never see this with a new brand, and instead a core selection of foundations are brought out that will sell well and then new shades will be added at a later date; but this is not the case with Fenty Beauty. They really are showing other brands how it is done!

What I loved about this range was that it is not for a select group of women and men (often brands will have shade selections that are perfect for fairer skin tones but don't cater to those who have a deeper complexion) and instead there is something that will suit every skin tone. Rihanna, herself, mentioned that she wanted a collection that "was created for everyone: For women of all shades, personalities, cultures and races," and so that every women would feel included. It would have been so easy for Rihanna to have just brought out a couple of products but instead she has given us the opportunity to create a flawless base that anyone can achieve and will look good in. Some brands will bring out purple lipsticks and bright eyeshadow palettes that won't suit everyone but I feel like this collection has really been thought about so that every product can be worn and there are different shades catered to every skin tone. I really admire the fact that every product is so wearable, even that stunning gold highlighter which will work beautifully as a highlighter and an eyeshadow. Actually all of these products can be used as other products which makes this brand a winner in my eyes.

The packaging of this collection is very simple and clean; I personally love how this collection looks. I think the packaging looks beautiful with the nude and white and it is definitely giving me some KKW Beauty vibes with the nude shade used for some of the products. I really like the fact that Rihanna has kept everything so clean and simple, but I love the hexagon and octagon shapes used for the compacts and cream Match Stix products. Also, I love the fact that the Match Stix products all have magnetic packaging, meaning that when they are placed together they will stick to each other to make it look like honeycomb. This just looks so cool and will make it so much easier to take these products with you when travelling.

In the collection, there are beauty tools, primer, foundation, cream stick products, powder highlighters, blotting powder, blotting paper and a lip gloss. Some of the products, like the lip gloss and blotting powder come in one universal shade that can be worn by every skin tone. Then there are products like the cream sticks that have a whole range of colour selection that can be used as a concealer, contour, blush or highlighter; plus they come in either a matte or shimmer finish. I decided to buy eight products from the collection as there was so much hype that I wanted to test out most of the range. I did spend a long time on the Harvey Nichols website, looking through every product and shade to see what products would work best on my skin. I have tried out every product at least twice now and I definitely have some impressions of the product. I have normal to dry skin so that is something to consider when I am reviewing these products.

A lot of the products in the Fenty Beauty collection are selling out quickly, especially the deeper foundation shades, but I know that most of the products are still in stock at the time of me writing this post, I am just not sure which shades are still in stock. Fenty Beauty by Rihanna is available online and in store from Sephora and Harvey Nichols (if you are in the UK).

HAWAII SEPHORA HAUL PART 3: LIP PRODUCTS

LIP PRODUCTS PURCHASED AT SEPHORA

Sephora is truly the one shop that everyone who is obsessed with beauty and makeup needs to visit when they go to America. Unfortunately for me, Sephora is not in the UK anymore, so the only time I can shop with Sephora is either online or visit a store when I am on holiday. There are Sephoras all over the world, from the United States of America to France to Australia. However, the UK still has none (although there were a few Sephora stores in the UK between 1999 and 2005). So when I went to Sephora I decided to save a lot of money to buy products that I knew I could not always get over here in the UK. Of course I had to sign up for their VIB Programme and five trips to Sephora later, I became a VIB Rouge member (I don't know whether to feel ashamed or impressed with myself). I only became a VIB Rouge member because my mum has purchased quite a few items herself, plus other people from back home had given me money to buy them products that they could not get over here as well. So I didn't spend over $1,000 just on me, as that would be a ridiculous amount to spend in one trip to the States.

Originally a French cosmetics store, Sephora has quickly been nicknamed a "Mecca" for all of us who love makeup. It is one of the leading global retailers of beauty, skincare and haircare and it continues to grow into one of the best stores for buying beauty products from. With now over 2,300 stores in 33 countries, Sephora is truly a place every beauty lover must go to. There are over 300 brands to choose from (ranging from Too Faced, Stila, Tom Ford, Hourglass and many more), plus they have their own private brand which is just as good as the high end makeup brands. There are so many to choose from and a lot of the time brands will have exclusive products that can only be found at Sephora. For us Brits, though, we can only purchase items from Sephora online or if we happen to go somewhere on holiday that has a Sephora store. I am definitely going to be making some purchases online in the future because there are products we cannot get over here and even with added Taxes, they often end up being a lot cheaper in the States than they are in the UK.

This haul is the third and final part of my Sephora haul - and this is probably my favourite part of the haul because it is all about the lip products that I purchased. I have a bit of an obsession when it comes to lip products and eyeshadow palettes (but when I went to Sephora, I didn't buy any eyeshadow palettes but I did go a bit over the top with lip products). For me, I can never have too many lipsticks, lipliners, liquid lipsticks and lip glosses in my collection. Now I am looking at all of them together I can see that I love my pinky nude shades and some of them do look similar in the tube to each other but when swatched they all have different undertones (at least that is what I tell myself). I bought these all on different trips to Sephora, so I didn't realise how similar some of the shades looked to the ones I had already bought, but like I say you can never have too many lip products. I tried to get products that I know I cannot get in the UK that easily and some I just wanted to try there and then. It does look at first like this post is not very long, so I could not have bought that many products but I did buy a couple of the same products in different shades, even if some do look identical!

I will leave links to all the items that you can get on Sephora below and I will also give a little mini first impression of each item. So let me show you what I purchased in terms of face products from Sephora ...

HAWAII SEPHORA HAUL PART 2: FACE PRODUCTS

FACE PRODUCTS PURCHASED AT SEPHORA

Unfortunately for me, Sephora is not in the UK anymore, so the only time I can shop with Sephora is either online or visit a store when I am on holiday. This haul is the second part of my Sephora haul - I have another part coming which will focus on lip products that I bought. But this post is all about the face products that I got, from concealers, to blushes and brushes (plus many more). I didn't buy as many face products because I can get a lot of these products in the UK, but I had run out of some products while I was on holiday and thought I would restock while I had the chance. I didn't go as crazy on face products as I did with skincare, haircare and lip products but I got some makeup products that I have wanted to try for a very long time. What I spent in Sephora was a ridiculous amount, but I did get products for some friends and family who had asked me to buy certain items for them that we cannot get in the UK.

I will leave links to all the items that you can get on Sephora below and I will also give a little mini first impression of each item. So let me show you what I purchased in terms of face products from Sephora ...

HAWAII SEPHORA HAUL PART 1: SKINCARE AND HAIRCARE

SKINCARE & HAIRCARE PURCHASED AT SEPHORA

This haul is only part 1 of 3 as I didn't want to make this post too long. Therefore, I decided to split this haul up into three parts: Skincare & Haircare, Face Products and then Lip Products. I will admit that this is a crazy amount of makeup to buy, but since coming home from holiday, I have only purchased two palettes which is pretty good for me. I went to Hawaii at the end of July and there are two Sephoras in Honolulu, so of course I had to go in multiple times (maybe five times in total, but I kept going back because I would forget things that other people had asked me to get them). I did find walking into Sephora a bit overwhelming at first, as there is just so much to look at and I just wanted to buy every single item but I did try to hold back and just buy the products that I truly wanted or could not purchase in the UK. Another thing that made my haul slightly larger was the infamous row of miniature products that they have right in front of you when you are lining up at the checkout; I only fell for this a couple of times as some of the miniature products were so expensive, but these products can definitely rack up the final cost.

I will leave links to all the items that you can get on Sephora below and I will also give a little mini first impression of each item. So let me show you what I purchased in terms of skincare and haircare from Sephora ...

THE PERFECT PALETTE TO TRANSITION FROM SUMMER TO FALL

THE PERFECT PALETTE TO TRANSITION FROM SUMMER TO FALL

Like with review of the Subculture palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills, I am late to the game with reviewing this palette. I actually bought the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette back when it went on a one day sale in June, but I did not want to review it until it came out at the end of July. However, when it was released I was on holiday and then when I came home, I was ill with a cold (which I still have) and I was not too worried about playing with new makeup. However, that does mean that when I did want to apply makeup, I have had two months to test this palette out. I have tried every shade before I even started writing about it. I actually did take this palette on holiday with me and it was the best makeup companion for me as whenever we went out for an evening meal, I could use this palette and create warm toned looks with it.

When Urban Decay announced that they were bringing out another Naked palette, I wasn't sure I was going to buy it. I find that the Naked palettes are either a hit or a miss with me, but when I saw the shades that they had included in this palette I knew instantly this was a palette that I would be able to get so much use out of it. Urban Decay really turned up the heat with their latest addition to the Naked collection, and I love the use of fiery oranges and deep browns. If you are thinking of buying one of the Naked palettes, I would definitely suggest you buy the Naked Heat palette as the shades are perfect for Autumn, plus they can be worn all year round. This is for sure my favourite Naked palette that I own and has restored my love for Urban Decay shadows.

I will usually go through a phases where I will only wear one eyeshadow palette at a time, and then after me using it for a couple of months it will be relegated to my eyeshadow palette drawer or given to someone who will use it more. However, I have used this palette so many times and I was still using it when I was testing out two other palettes from Anastasia Beverly Hills and Juvia's Place. I can definitely see myself wearing this palette even more as this palette screams Autumn and I think this will be my most reached for palette in the next few months.

The Urban Decay Naked Heat palette was released at the end of July and you can find it on Urban DecayDebenhamsJohn LewisSelfridges and Sephora.

AN HONEST REVIEW OF THE ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS SUBCULTURE PALETTE

THE PALETTE THAT IS DIVIDING THE BEAUTY COMMUNITY

I am very late to the game when it comes to reviewing the latest palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills, and if you are reading this, then you have probably heard a lot about the controversy of this palette and how it is dividing the beauty community - some love it and some hate it. When I saw the photos of this palette, which were leaked earlier this year, I was initially on the fence about whether I wanted to buy this palette; the colours themselves are not shades that I would usually gravitate to. However, I thought it would be the same formula to the Modern Renaissance palette (that I am obsessed with) and thought I probably would end up buying it in the end. When the Subculture palette was released I was in Hawaii, and they did not have any stock of it in the Sephora in Honolulu. So I thought I would just buy it when I was back in the UK, until I watched Alissa Ashley's review on YouTube and started having second thoughts about the palette. I watched more videos and saw the issues they were experiencing with the palette and had pretty much forgotten about the palette, until I watched Kathleen Lights review. Kathleen is someone I have been watching for years and really trust her opinion, and when I saw that she did not seem to experience the same issues, I decided to buy this palette so I could give it a try and review it for all of you.

When it comes to Anastasia Beverly Hills products I am obsessed - there is not many products I don't like. I love their lip glosses, their brow products and of course I reviewed the Modern Renaissance palette (linked here) earlier on this year. The Modern Renaissance palette is one of my favourite palettes of all time and the formulation of those shadows are out of this world. So when I saw that ABH was bringing out what looked to be a sister palette for the Modern Renaissance, called the Subculture palette, I was pretty excited to get my hands on it and review it. I was hoping that because the packaging was identical to the Modern Renaissance, I was also hoping that the formulation would be identical as well.

If you have been reading my blog for a while, you may know that when it comes to buying eyeshadow palettes I will always watch reviews before buying it myself (as I do own so many palettes already). So I probably watched over 20 reviews on this one palette and the same comments were being made - there was too much fall out, the shadows could not be blended and even some were hitting pan after using it one time. I did seem some positive reviews of the palette, and after watching Kathleen Lights first impressions video on the Subculture palette, I decided to buy this palette and see for myself whether it was good or bad. I bought this palette from the Cult Beauty website a couple of weeks ago and finally decided to try it out for the first time this week and I am here to give you my first impressions of this palette and whether I think it is worth you buying.

The Subculture palette was released early this summer and you can find it on Anastasia Beverly HillsBeauty Bay,  Cult Beauty and Sephora.

WHY YOU NEED TO VISIT HAWAII

WHY HAWAII?

LOCATION: HONOLULU, HAWAII

Honolulu, Hawaii, is one of the most beautiful and inspiring places that I have ever had the opportunity of visiting; so when it came to us booking our family holiday for this Summer, it was an easy decision to make and we knew that Honolulu, Hawaii was the destination for this years Summer holiday. I last went to Hawaii in 2009 and I remember every single incredible memory that we created when we were there before. There was really no doubt that we had always wanted to return to Hawaii, but make the vacation more of a relaxing trip rather than focusing on sightseeing. We had already experienced the tours and excursions around the island of Oahu in 2009 (including visiting Pearl Harbour, the Dole Plantation, the North Shore and the Polynesian Cultural Center), so this time round we wanted to relax and enjoy the beautiful Waikiki Beach.

As Hawaii is a part of Polynesia as well as being a state in the United States of America, you really experience the best of both worlds - there is the tropical paradise, where you can sip cocktails out of pineapples and coconuts on a beach and then you have the traditional America with the food and shops. As we had already experienced the cultural and historical side of Hawaii last time, we decided to make this vacation more of a relaxation trip, which mainly involved sunbathing and shopping. If you follow me on Instagram then you will have already seen some of the photos (if you don't follow me, then make sure to @vickilouisecaldwell), but I also wanted to show you the beauty of Hawaii on my blog, and especially show you how great Oahu is and tell you my reasons as to why you should consider Hawaii for your next vacation.

There are four main islands that you can travel to; Oahu, Big Island, Maui and Kauai. We decided to stay on Waikiki beach, which is on probably the most popular island for tourists to visit; Oahu. There is seriously so much to experience in Oahu, from hiking up volcanoes, visiting Pearl Harbour and watching a Luau - there is just so much that can be experienced on this beautiful island. Unfortunately, there is no direct flight from London to Hawaii, and therefore you will have to change planes (usually at LAX), resulting in you being in the air for almost 16 hours. But experiencing Hawaii is definitely worth the long flight.

Every day in Hawaii, was like looking at a post card, as everything is just so stunning; the views are breathtaking, the people are so friendly and the experience is something you will never forget. I am going to share with you my experience of Oahu, including some travel tips to consider before purchasing those flights.

CHASING THE SUN COLLECTION BY TANYA BURR COSMETICS

CHASING THE SUN!

Over the past few months, I have not reviewed as much drugstore makeup on my blog; instead I have been reviewing brands like Anastasia Beverly Hills, Bobbi Brown and Too Faced. However, when I saw that Tanya Burr was coming out with a new collection for Tanya Burr Cosmetics, I immediately rushed out to Superdrug to buy the full collection. I am coming a bit late with this blog post because I had to order one of the products from FeelUnique as it was sold out in my local Superdrug. I am usually not the type of girl who will buy every single product in a new collection, but as Tanya Burr Cosmetics is such an affordable brand I was more than happy to review the whole collection - and I must admit the Chasing The Sun collection is probably my most favourite out of all of the collections.

I have never reviewed Tanya Burr Cosmetics on my blog before, and the only reason why that is, is because I don't usually reach for her products on a regular basis; there are some eyeshadow palettes that I have purchased from her collection that I have never even worn. I do however love her lip glosses and lipsticks - I will often reach for Lunch Date most days! On first impressions, I already know that this is a collection that I will reach for more than her other collections! I am so pleased that Tanya has really started to step up her game with the presentation and packaging in her most recent collections. In the past, I have personally found that some of the products (especially the palettes) do look slightly childish and don't really appeal to me. I prefer palette that look sleek and are not too bulky - I would much rather her palettes be in the plastic packaging that she uses for her illuminating powders. The gold packaging with this collection is stunning and it really screams that it is a Summer collection that will help achieve a beautiful bronzed look. Due to the price of this range, and it being an affordable drugstore brand, the packaging does feel slightly cheap, but with the most expensive product retailing at £7.49, you really can't complain that the products are in plastic packaging!

Chasing The Sun collection gives you exactly what the name might have you envisaging; think the perfect products to create a bronzed goddess look! Although this is not a huge collection, it does offer a few key products which are perfect for the Summer months! Chasing The Sun consists of two contour sticks, three scented lip balms and three illuminating powders. See below for more details and swatches ...

5 HIGHLIGHTERS FOR THE PERFECT SUMMER GLOW

FROM THE SUBTLE TO THE BLINDING!

Regardless of whether I am going out for coffee with the girls or attending a special event, I will always apply my highlight before stepping one foot outside the door. Highlighters really are the makeup gift that keeps on giving - whether mixed with foundation to achieve a dewy and glowing lustre to the skin, applied to the cheekbones to help awaken and brighten your makeup look, or applied generously to the high points of your face to create that perfect Instagram glow! You really can make a makeup look come together by just simply placing some highlight on the high points of your face. There is a highlight that is perfect for everyone (you just need to know what suits your overall makeup look and choose one that is right for your skin tone). Whether you prefer a subtle, natural glow or if you want something that will blind people when your face catches a glimpse of the light, there will be a highlighter out there for you!

It is safe to say I am a highlighter hoarder! Looking at my makeup collection, I have just over twenty highlighters, and that is even with me recently decluttering my entire collection and clearing out the products that were old, broken or ones I simply did not use anymore. Yes I know I have a problem and no-one needs that many highlighters in their collection. But I am obsessed with highlighters and just like with eyeshadow palettes, whenever a new one comes out (and I know it is something that I will wear) I just have to buy it and add it to the ever expanding highlighter collection I currently have.

I love highlighting - it is just something that helps to complete my makeup look and I am never happy with my look until I have added highlight (just like I am never happy with my eye look until I have added mascara). Obviously, I have tested a lot of highlighters, from the subtle to the absolute blinding, and I have learned to love so many products on the highlighting market. The highlighting boom has really only taken over in the last few years. Luckily the trend of strobing all over our face faded fairly quickly and now we stick to highlighting the high points of our face, mainly focusing it on our cheekbones, brow bone, inner eye corner, nose and Cupid's bow. Since then, my collection has continued to grow, and with new highlighting products coming out all the time and it can often be hard to know which ones are the creme de la creme. I have included five of my absolute favourite highlighters, ranging from the subtle to the full on moonbeam products (there will be a product for everyone)!

Of course there are more than five highlighters that I would recommend, and I am sure you will see some of my other favourites on this blog at some point in the near future, but these are the five that I truly think deserve a mention and are the ones that I gravitate towards the most when I am wanting to achieve that gorgeous summer glow. From a more subtle glow to those that are a full on dazzling beam of light, these are the five highlighting products that really leave my skin glowing!

THE PERFECT NATURAL LOVE PALETTE FROM TOO FACED

EVERY NEUTRAL LOVER'S DREAM PALETTE HAS ARRIVED!

If you are looking for the most perfect neutral eyeshadow palette, then Too Faced have you covered. Too Faced has long been one of my favourite makeup brands to buy products from; whether it is a blush, eyeshadow palette or liquid lipstick. I dread to think how many products I have from them and how much I have spent with them over the years. Still to this day I remember my excitement when I bought my first ever product from Too Faced, which happened to be the Chocolate Bar palette (which I still love to this day)! I must admit, even though I love the brand, their consistency with products has not always been great, but I will always do my research before buying a product from Too Faced - I will look at YouTube videos, read reviews and look at social media to see other people's opinions on the particular product. So far I can say that I have not been disappointed by any Too Faced product yet, but of course I do not buy every limited edition palette and I will only buy something if I think it is something that I will truly use!

The natural eye look has become so popular over the last few years, but it can often be hard to achieve (especially if you are a beauty novice). I always struggle when I am trying to create a soft, natural eye look as I will always end up using a shade that does not work with the overall look or I will put too much product on and spend half an hour trying to blend it out. That is until Too Faced started their Natural Eye collection in 2009 creating natural eyeshadow palettes that are perfect for creating that dreamy, neutral eye look. Now, Too Faced have created the ultimate natural palette with the Natural Love eyeshadow palette. Combining 13 iconic shadows from the past Natural Eyes, Natural Matte and Natural At Night palettes, this palette is a dream come true for any beauty lover who loves a soft eye makeup look!

A palette with 30 of the most stunning, natural eyeshadows, ranging from soft pinks to intense, rich chocolate browns, this is a must-have for anyone who loves a soft, neutral eye makeup look! There is an eyeshadow for everyone in this palette and will be perfect for those special occasions where you want a more subtle eye look; whether that is a bride on her wedding day, a student going to their prom or if you are going on a date. This is a beautiful natural palette that can be worn every day and will be great for special occasions or even just to wear into work. Whether you love Too Faced for their gorgeous, over-the-top packaging or you love the formulation of their shadows, this beautiful fairytale palettes is going to be a palette you won't regret buying!

Like I say with every eyeshadow palette review on this blog, this has become my favourite palettes of all-time (and I seriously mean it this time). If you are looking for a palette that is perfect for natural eye looks then this will be the only palette you ever reach for. You can find the Natural Love palette on the Too Faced WebsiteDebenhams and Sephora.

4 LIP PRODUCTS YOU NEED FOR SPRING

GIVE YOUR LIPSTICK COLLECTION A SPRING CLEAN!

We are now nearing the middle of Spring; the sun is finally starting to shine here in the UK and the weather is getting slightly warmer, therefore it is time to start thinking about updating your makeup collection - particularly your lip products (whether that is lip glosses, lipsticks or liquid lipsticks)! For me, personally, lipsticks are something that I change up every season - I have my brighter pinks and peaches for Spring/Summer and my bright reds and vampy shades for Autumn/Winter, whilst keeping my nude shades out all year round. The Spring months are the time of year when I am a bit more adventurous with my makeup and even though I will sometimes tone down my makeup, I like to add a pop of colour into each makeup look - and what better way to achieve that pop of colour that through your lipstick. At the moment I am obsessed with peach and coral shades (so of course I have included a couple of peach shades in this post). One sure fire way to put a spring in my step is to change up my lipstick collection ...

I must admit that I don't need an excuse to buy new makeup, but there is something about the transition from those cold and crisp Winter months to the much warmer and sunnier Spring months that makes a significant impact on my style - whether that is through fashion or makeup! There is just something about the sun shining, blue skies and a slightly higher temperature that makes me inspired to change up my look by adding a pop of colour to my makeup routine. The perfect shades for this Spring are pinks, peaches and of course my favourite, a good nude lipstick. There are so many of these shades being created by different brands that will be perfect for this time of year and will help to brighten up your lipstick collection.

I have recently been looking through my lipstick collection and have found four that I think are perfect for this Spring. Whether you prefer a lipstick, liquid lipstick or a lip gloss, I have you covered in this post and there is something for everyone! All of these lip products are amazing if you prefer to wear minimal makeup or love to go full glam when it comes to your makeup routine. I always find that when the clocks go forward I will change the way I apply my makeup and I will take a more minimalistic approach; opting usually for a lightweight foundation, a warm toned bronzer, my Brow Wizz, mascara and a lipstick or lip gloss! Therefore, I try to add pops of colour into my makeup through my lipstick and I have found two lipsticks, a liquid lipstick and a lip gloss/oil that I think will make perfect additions to your makeup collection this Spring.

If you are looking to change up your lipstick collection and are thinking of buying a couple of new lipsticks for Spring, then these are my four favourite lip products that I think are needed in everyone's makeup bag ...
