MY GO-TO LOOK FOR NEW YEAR'S EVE ...
With New Year's Eve right around the corner, I thought I would share with you a really simple makeup look that is perfect for New Year's Eve and it is full glam and perfect for ringing in the New Year!
I cannot believe that we are going into 2018 tomorrow night (seriously, where has 2017 gone!) and one of the things I love about celebrating the New Year is dressing up, doing my makeup and ringing in the New Year with my loved ones. This is the first year that I am having a quiet New Year's Eve and just spending it at home with close family and friends but I wanted to share with you all a really easy makeup look that can be worn no matter what your New Year's plans are. It doesn't matter if you are having a quiet night in or going out, this makeup look can be adapted depending on your plans.
I am going to take you through each step of how I achieved this New Year's Eve glam look ...
Starting in the shower I washed my hair with the L'Oreal Elvive Fibrology Shampoo and Conditioner. These are my two favourite hair products to use in the shower as they leave my hair looking thicker and more healthy. I also like to curl my hair, so I made sure to prep it with the Tresemme Heat Protection Spray, which helps to leave my hair looking smooth, shiny and prepped before I style it. I then blow-dried my hair with the Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer. The Dyson hairdryer is expensive but I have been using it for the last year and it is the best hairdryer I have ever used (I can dry my hair in 20 minutes, and I have long hair). Once my hair is completely dry I then curl it with my GHD Curve Soft Curl Tongs which are perfect for giving me soft, natural curls.
For my face, I prepped my skin with some of the products from My Favourite Skincare Products of 2017. I first used the Pixi Glow Tonic as it is perfect for removing any leftover makeup as well as leaving my skin glowing. I then followed this with my Charlotte Tilbury Magic Eye Rescue cream and then my Tatcha Water Cream, that I am currently obsessed with at the moment.
At the moment, my go-to favourite base combination is the Marc Jacobs Coconut Primer, then the Milani Conceal and Perfect 2 in 1 Foundation and Concealer and finally I use Tarte's Shape Tape Concealer to help brighten my under eye area and to hide any blemishes. This combination has become my daily go-to as it leaves my skin looking beautiful and glowing (plus the foundation gives me a full coverage that works well with my dry skin). Together, these products just make my skin look amazing with looking too cakey. I then set my foundation and concealer with the Charlotte Tilbury Air Brush Flawless Skin Powder, as it leaves my skin looking flawless and helps to mattify my foundation without emphasising any dry areas.
For the rest of my face, I added a little bit of contour/bronzer to give a bit of warmth to my skin. I decided to use Benefit's Hoola Lite, as it is perfect for adding a natural warmth and glow to my skin without looking too muddy. This is also perfect if the original Hoola is too dark for your skin tone. I also wanted to add a soft blush to my cheeks and I used the Milani Powder Blush in Romantic Rose. This is not too pigmented (as I find some pigmented blushes can leave me looking like a clown) but just adds a soft blush to the cheeks. I finished my face by applying the Dior Nude Air Luminizer Highlighter which is perfect for that natural glow!
I never use to use so many products on my brows but recently I have been getting into new brow products and I have used some of my favourite brow products for this look. My go-to brow company has to be Anastasia Beverly Hills, but I also love Benefit as both have so many brow products in a range of different shades. But today I used both brands on my brows. I first mapped out the shape of my brows by using the Brow Wiz in the shade Chocolate. It has a tiny precise point that creates natural looking strokes that look like little hairs and is perfect for making my brows look really natural. I then used the Dipbrow Pomade to just add a bit more definition on the tail of my brows. I finished my brows by setting them with the Benefit Ready, Set, Brow Gel which keeps my brows in place for the whole day.
When it comes to doing my eyes, I first started off with the MAC Paint Pot in Soft Ochre, followed by using the Modern Renaissance Palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills. I used the shades Buon Fresco, Raw Sienna, Red Ochre and Cyprus Umber in the crease and outer corner (as well as along my lower lash line). I then used the Stila Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow in the shade Kitten Karma (which is a beautiful Champagne gold shade). I love using the Stila liquid eye shadows as they just make every eye look pop and will be perfect for a night out on New Year's Eve (you could also easily use a shimmer Champagne gold shadow with some MAC Fix+). I also use the Kat Von D Ink Liquid Eyeliner in Trooper to just line my lashes - I decided not to do a cat eye as I wanted to keep my liner quite minimal and make my eyes all about the Stila liquid eyeshadow. For my mascara, I used the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara as it makes my lashes look beautiful and makes them look fuller. I don't always wear lashes as mine are quite long anyway, but I wanted to add some more fullness with this look and used my favourites, which are the Eylure Fleur Loves Lashes. These are beautiful and look really natural.
To complete my New Year's glam look, I applied my all-time favourite nude lipstick as I didn't want to have a really bold lip as I knew my eye makeup was more dramatic. I used the Tom Ford Lip Colour Lipstick in Blush Nude. This is a beautiful creamy nude shade that is so pigmented and looks great with any makeup look. You will have to reapply a cream lipstick throughout the night, so if this is something you don't want to do then I recommend using a nude liquid lipstick as that should last the whole night without having to be reapplied.
I absolutely love this look and think it works for any night out but is absolutely perfect to welcome in 2018 tomorrow night. Let me know in the comments what you are doing for New Year's Eve?
I hope you all have a brilliant New Year's Eve!
